Bronx Christmas House

I had been thinking about this old image, trying to remember what it reminded me of, and now I know – it’s an old twilight zone episode where every so often the maniquins come alive at night, and I think it was Ann Francis who finds out that she is a maniquin.

  1. I know I could look it up – but I remember her in a space movie with Robbie? the Robot? She’s never seen a man before… well, a young man… and has been brought up by a pipe-smoking father… And yes, that beauty mole… who could forget it. I had a crush on her back then, for sure.

  2. I believe you’re referring to “Forbidden Planet” (1956). Walter Pidgeon is the father (Dr. Morbius), along with an impossibly young Leslie Nielsen as the Commander. Robby the Robot stars as well, Himself of course. Ann is a total dish in this one, and the skimpy 50’s space garb doesn’t hurt matters. A true sci-fi classic with some amazing special effects for the day, well worth a re-watch.

  3. I remembered later the movie’s name; but then I couldn’t remember the doctor’s name and didn’t feel like looking it up. Walter Pidgeon. Great actor. I don’t know if it’s a great movie; some people think it is – but yes, an impossibly young Leslie Nielsen. And there was a small person who was inside the robot – who kept getting drunk and crashing the robot into stuff until he was fired.
