What – color?  It happens to the best of us.  Especially where there are flowers and an Eli’s bag.  And so, with the use of color,  it doesn’t feel like it was taken in the 40’s or 50’s.  Maybe it wasn’t taken yesterday – but it no longer feels nostalgic.  The use of color gives the image a contemporary look.

  1. A very perceptive and powerful image. The use of color seems quite valid in helping to convey the interrelationships between flowers and human figure (both societal castoffs).

    I read recently that Helen Levitt, a classic New York street photographer, had passed on at age 95, and so I reviewed selections from her portfolio here (reminded me of some of your own visual musings):
